This has got to be the worst performance by an NBA team in history. The New Orleans Hornets lost to the Denver Nuggest 121 to 63. In the entire history of the NBA no team has ever lost by 58 points at home. How does a team lose by 58 points at home? Did they even try? The Hornets scored 24 points in the 2nd quarter. Then they went on to score 24 more points in the entire 2nd half. This was a game that New Orleans needed badly in order to get back into this series and they just laid an egg. Maybe Chris Paul is a good player, but not a true leader. In 36 minutes he had 6 assists and 4 points.
If you’re a professional athlete you can’t allow something like this to happen.. If you’re going to lose, at least put forth an effort. Show your home crowd that you are trying and show them that you appreciate them coming out to support you night after night. This game wasn’t just a regular season game where the Hornets could lose and move on, this was a playoff game. This is lose and go home. I remember a playoff game between the L.A. Lakers and Sacramento King in which the Lakers were down by 20 after the 1st quarter, and yet they were able to come back and win the game, and win the championship. This is what it takes to win a title and the Hornets don’t have it. I hope this loss teaches them a lesson on what playoff basketball is all about.
